| There is still a bug in the redirect
code. Seems that a recent code change effected the path saving
variable in a way that broke the redirect logic. Right now it is likely
that a non-valid redirect
location is created, containing real path info of another, older
request. Is fixed in the next release. |

218d is now up and ready for
download, like always in the download section.
This is a major bugfix release.

217d is now up and ready for
download, like always in the download section.
This version has some bug fixes, some code streamlining and, as a
new feature it gives you the capability for log-files.

| 8th March 2006 |
Finally we have a new release. The
215h is now up and ready for download, like always in the download section.
This version has several bug fixes, more code streamlining and, as a
new feature, it is now possible to setup mass virtual servers. I hope
you like it.

| The last hssTVS download package
(213d) has a problem with the binary, slowing it down to a crawl. I
forgot to remove some test code. As a work around get the
213e binary in the download section. I'll make a new
package as soon as possible... |
| 18th September 2005 |
The current version (0.212e alpha) of
hssTVS is now ready for download. You can grap it here:
http://hsstvs.minxam.com/downloads.html
Again there was a longer delay between full package upgrades. There
were however mini releases only giving the the executable
along with a short description of the most crucial changes and new
options/features. That was mostly because I was a bit pressed
for time and didn't have the opportunity to create a complete new
package. This will most likely not change in the foreseeable
future, so be prepared to take a look now and then to grap the updates,
even without an announcement or a mail to inform about
it.
I hope to add a couple of new features for the next releases, now that
the most pressing issues have been taken care of. So, enough
of that babbling...

The current version (0.205 alpha) of
hssTVS is now ready for download. You can grap it here:
http://hsstvs.minxam.com/downloads.html
It took a longer while this time. First I finally got some people to
actually use hssTVS and report their problems back, then I added quite
a
few features for those people and finally I found a job and a new
girlfriend not too long ago, reducing my available time quite a bit.
But I
won't stop working on my pet, it'll just needs longer to evolve now.

| 1st July 2005 |
The server was out for most of
yesterday due to a hdd failure. The drive is replaced now and hopefully
that's it.
The server is pretty old though and I might have to see if I can move
to a new one in the coming months...
I am working to finally get a new release ready until sunday night. It
will have the version number 0.205, I am
still not sure though which features will be enabled though. Of course
the ones seen till 203 will be there.

| 13th March 2005 |
I've updated the benchmark tables
with the numbers for LiteSpeed std 2.0, with that there is
now a base to compare my results
(as relative
speeds compared to lsws std) with the ones found
on the page of
http://www.litespeedtech.com/
|
| 7th March 2005 |
| hssTVS 0.178 is ready for download
now. It's a bug fix release of 176, adding nothing really new.
The main issue addressed is the eternally kept open connections one
reported for the last release. |
| 16th February 2005 |
hssTVS 0.176 is ready for download
now. It has some new features (look at the manual) and
is slightly faster and more stable than 159. I've also updated the
benchmark results accordingly.
On a sidenote, IE users should now see the intended lightgray backround
on the pages. There's
obviously an issue with IE interpreting that color as a dark blue, so I
replaced it with the
rgb color number (d3d3d3). |
| 25th December 2004 |
| I have updated the benchmark section
again. The latest numbers now include Lighttpd, LiteSpeed
(std), thttpd, Boa, dpfTVS, dptTVS and hssTVS in their current stable
versions: Benchmarks |
| 11th December 2004 |
hssTVS 0.159 alpha is ready for
download now. The main change is that the old cache system has been
replace by a dynamic one. The changes go deeper than it may seem at
first glance, however it mainly
got a lot faster in every day use. It also has multiple changes in the
inner works, as first steps
for the coming new, expanded feature set.
If you already have used a former version make sure to check the
changes before replacing the old executable.
You can get the new "distro" here:
http://hsstvs.minxam.com/downloads.html
|
| 6th December 2004 |
The current hssTVS version is 159,
still as fast as 157 but should be bug free by now.
If nothing comes up that'll be the base for a new distro at the end of
the week. Make
sure to admire the last benchmarks found here:

| 2nd December 2004 |
I am currently testing hssTVS 0.154
on this server. It features a dynamic file cache and with
that it is now capable to beat servers like lighttpd 1.3.6(free
version), thttpd 2.25b or boa 0.94.13
in a spectacular manner. Even the current dpfTVS 2.0.920 doesn't look
too shabby.
Feel free to check the latest Benchmark
results.
If all goes well in the coming week I'll make the new versions
available for download. Until then I'll
do some more testing to make sure it's not buggy. |
| 6th November 2004 |
| hssTVS 0.141 and dpfTVS 2.0.917 are
available for download now. These version are finally free
of the date parsing bug (and hopefully all related ones). I've
re-written the whole date part
and had to change several sections that used the original ones. |
| 6th November 2004 |
| There is still a bug in the date
parsing. I'll see that I fix that over the weekend. |
| 6th November 2004 |
| hssTVS 0.139 and dpfTVS 2.0.916 are
available for download now. This is just a fix for the before mentioned
date parsing bug. |
| 6th November 2004 |
| There is a bug in the date parsing
code for both servers, so the timezone offset is not added
at all. In case you don't run the server on a GMT host this will cause
problems with 304 and 206
responses. I'll update the download versions later today with the fixed
codebase. |
| 5th November 2004 |
| I've finished a few benchmarks
comparing hssTVS, dpfTVS, thttpd and lighttpd.
Allthough I am a bit surprised about the outcome, I am rather proud
that both my servers came
out on top and by a fair margin by that.
You can take a look at the results here |
| 1st November 2004 |
I've uploaded a new set of binaries
for both servers. We are now at dpfTVS 2.0.915 and
hssTVS 0.138. Both have only minor tweaks and one more serious bug fix.
I had to discover that my start-up script for the benchmarks contained
a typo, letting
the logfiles for thttpd enabled. So the numbers are too low and I am
compiling a new
set of results in the coming days. |
| 10th October 2004 |
I am through testing dpfTVS built 914
and it is available for download now. 890 had a nasty bug and it took
me a while to hunt it down, but it's finaly taken care of. The main
features added for this version
are, beside the significant speed increase for static files, a working
static and half-static cache.
You might also want to take a look at the hssTVS 0.135
Alpha, which features an experimental non-blocking multiplexing
core and is really, really fast. You can download this
one too. |
| 1st August 2004 |
I've finished built 890 and this is
the first version I deem ready for download. I'll continue working
on the code though as I still have a couple of ideas to improve things
and of course to deal with any
bugs that might still show up.
I've also changed the name from mTVS to dpfTVS in order to prevent
later problems as there already is
not only MTV (silly me), but also a MTVS (Musik Television Server).
Wouldn't want to piss anybody off... |
| 21th July 2004 |
Found one more bug. When I receive a
request it is checked in several stages against some error conditions
which are represented by an error number for the later processing
stages. Originally error 1 and 2 were the
only ones seen as critical, but later I also used 3 as a sign to end
the connection asap. That one slipped
through in the error handler and the invalid data got processed causing
some serious problems. That's
fixed now too.
Sofar I've found 7 minor and not so minor bugs since I started testing
real conditions bringing it to version
887, but that's what field tests are for after all. |
| 19th July 2004 |
| I am now testing version 2.0.886
which is hopefully the one that I can make
public. There has been an issue with bots that just send a lonely GET
without anything else behind it that caused under some circumstances a
segvfault. I've re-written the first line parser now and this issue is
solved. I am writing the
last few manual pages in the coming 2 or so days and if no other
problems arise
during that time mTVS will be available. |
